Hi, my name is Rachel Wermager and I am a junior magazine journalism and English double major at Drake University. At Drake I am a copy editor for the Times-Delphic, the student run newspaper. I also write articles for the online website Spoon University, and am the Editor-in-Chief for Drake’s Odyssey community. I am highly interested in writing for a magazine as a career. What I bring to the table is great people skills—I am slightly introverted but that does not stop me from working well with others. I am very good at making tough decisions and I often become passionate about my work, along with those I work with and work for.
I am originally from Rockford, Illinois but I transitioned to Des Moines, Iowa to attend Drake. I have always had a passion for reading and writing, so picking my major and career path was an easy choice. I like the idea of writing something that makes a difference, albeit large or small, in the lives of others. I find I am driven a lot by my passions and have always had the desire to make an impact with the life I’ve been given; I want to leave my mark on those I encounter throughout life.
I feel as though we are given this one life to live, so therefore we should live it to the fullest and make sure that we leave things behind better than they were before. Something important to me and the way I live my life is that I look back with no regrets. My favorite quote says just that, “When you look back on life you will only regret the things you didn’t do, not the things you did.”
